1st Virtual Run/Walk? Head out for a run/walk whenever/wherever you'd like - you don't have to 'track' via GPS. Simply record the time your run/walk took and post your results. That's it!
RECORDING A RUN/WALK TIME
You can record your time a number of ways:
- Stopwatch
- GPS watch
- Smartphone or other mobile device with a timer
- Download free Strava app and hit 'Record'
- Search for more running tracker apps on Google
MAPPING OUT A DISTANCE
Want to make sure you cover the correct distance? Here are some great options:
- Download free Strava app and hit 'Record'
- Use or borrow a GPS watch
- 12.5 laps on a track = 5K (4 laps to a Mile, 5K = 3.1Miles).
- Walking = 2,000 to 2,500 steps per mile.
- Running = 1,400 to 1,700 steps per mile.
- Hop on a Treadmill
- Map a route on MapMyRun.com
- Choose a Certified USATF Course
- Some run/walk events display course maps at elitefeats.com
- Many parks have 'fitness' trails ie; Eisenhower Park's Fitness Trail
POST YOUR RESULTS
Instructions are on all of the Virtual Run/Walk options on our calendar but if you've missed it here are the step by steps:
- Go for a run/walk starting on the event date you chose
- Go to TheVirtualRunSeries.com/results
- and click on the event you chose
- Type your name in the Search box then click 'update'
- Enter your time (ie; enter 00:25:00 for a 25 minute run/walk)
- You will have the option to upload a selfie or screenshot of your running app - up to 5 photos!
